  1. 1. Using Any Video Converter to burn either a mkv or a m2ts file to DVD does not yield any subtitle (embedded or not), but clicking on those files directly to watch does produce subtitles. Can anybody help to solve this? Thanks.

  2. I do not have Any Video Converter but I found this:
    https://www.any-video-converter.com/online_help/en/select-and-add-subtitle.php
Any Video Converter shows to only use two subtitle formats.
If your .MKV or .m2ts has a different format than these two then that is the reason.

  3. 1. Thanks, but I am aware of the help page where it specifies EXTERNAL subtitle files (srt or ass). The funny thing with mkv and m2ts files, they both contain multiple subtitles WITHIN themselves (so I don't know what format or type of file the subtitles are), and these options are selectable on the main panel of AVC (but do not appear on DVD). Presuming that that is just the way it is,

. is there a way to extract a subtitle file as srt from a mkv or m2ts file, or
. to extract directly from a blueray disc?
    Thanks.

  4. MKV can use many types of subtitles.
The only .m2ts file I have handy shows a PGS subtitle.
Check your files with MediaInfo & see what the subtitle format is.
I'm not an expert in subtitles.
    There are many subtitle converters.
You may need to find one that works best for you.

  5. Yes, you are right.
    PGS format.
Now trying Subtitle Edit, but the OCR creates a lot of errors.
