Downloaded both the installable and the portable versions of SMPlayer 24.5.0.
On starting SMPlayer get error message appearing -

SMPlayer main window appears also (beneath the error message). Tried opening and playing videos, nothing happens. Videos don't play regardless if I use the installed or the portable versions of SMPlayer.
Running SMPlayer under Windows 7 64bit SP1.
Is SMPlayer (supposed to be) compatible with Windows 7? If so, then what is wrong with my SMPlayer installations?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays!

According to this, it's Windows 8 and above

https://github.com/smplayer-dev/smplayer/releases/download/v24.5.0/smplayer-24.5.0-win...6-unsigned.exe
(package for Windows XP and other 32-bit systems)
You can try this and see if it works. Seems like the developer of smplayer stopped 64bit versions being used for windows 7 a while back.
smplayer dev: "The mpv developers decided to stop supporting Windows 7, so now Windows 8 is required.
But you can still use the 32 bit package, it contains an old version of mpv."
This issue may be that developers decided to drop windows 7 support from MPV a while back which is what smplayer uses to drive its GUI, smplayer used to use mplayer back in the day and then moved onto MPV (used to be called mplayer2). -

Try either of these builds to see which one works for you. Saw a post where someone said MPV (2024-07-28) is last build to support Windows 7 but I have no way to truly test this out. I don't know if you have a newer cpu that can allow v3 version to work on your computer, but the regular version should work if it allows Windows 7 with older CPUs.
Another person said that this build worked on windows 7 64bit for them. Try it out and see for yourself.

Hope some of this helps you out.
