SMPlayer main window appears also (beneath the error message). Tried opening and playing videos, nothing happens. Videos don't play regardless if I use the installed or the portable versions of SMPlayer.

    Running SMPlayer under Windows 7 64bit SP1.

Is SMPlayer (supposed to be) compatible with Windows 7? If so, then what is wrong with my SMPlayer installations?

(package for Windows XP and other 32-bit systems)

You can try this and see if it works. Seems like the developer of smplayer stopped 64bit versions being used for windows 7 a while back.

smplayer dev: "The mpv developers decided to stop supporting Windows 7, so now Windows 8 is required.
But you can still use the 32 bit package, it contains an old version of mpv."

This issue may be that developers decided to drop windows 7 support from MPV a while back which is what smplayer uses to drive its GUI, smplayer used to use mplayer back in the day and then moved onto MPV (used to be called mplayer2).

  4. Thanks for the comments, which confirms my suspicion that Windows 7 (64 bit) is no longer supported.

I prefer the 64 bit version of SMPlayer. So which is the last version of SMPlayer to support Windows 7 64 bit?
