    Hi there.

What file format is the best to save in when making short internet videos?

I make short 1 to 10 minute video clips for posting on the internet.
I'm looking for decent quality, along with a smaller file size.

    Thanks.

I would say a .avi file would work best. Depending on how you are planning on veiwing the file.

  3. Avi is uncompressed, unless you use something like DiVX to code the avi, then it will be too big of a file.

Actually, I would have to say to try 160x120 mpg if you like quality. The file will be about 60% smaller then an uncompressed .avi.

If you want space, then try .rm (real media). I don't know right off the bat how much smaller it is then uncompressed avi, but I believe it's a lot less then avi and mpg. The biggest problem with this format is that you sacrifice quality for size.

Any which way, you are looking at a huge file. A compressed mpg of 160x120 of 1 minute will be anywhere in the ball park of 1,000-3,000KB or more. But, you can also use programs like Winzip and Winrar (I think that's the program) to compress the video file down a little more.

  4. Even Quicktime (.mov) is another option and the quality is good also.

    Thanks for the responses guys!

What do you think of wmv? Is that a good file type to use?
Are there any problems with it?

    Thanks.
