Hello,
I have received what is supposed to be an aegisub file,
But when I open it into aegisub 3.2.2 on Windows 11. The subtitles have no timestamp and it seems that the timestamps are in the dialogue before the subtitle itself. When I try to export it to a .srt file, I have the same issue in the .srt file. This is the beginning of the .ass file.
I have no clue how to fix this issue except to do a lot of copy and paste ...
Any other solution ?

Outstanding conversion failure from SRT (?) to ASS. Original SRT timestamps (in a timecode format with frames??) are in the Text field and preceed the actual dialogue line. Furthermore, the "Start" timecode is truncated and is missing the hour digits.
Complain to whoever produced this file and ask them to give you the original, or not use garbage conversion tool to produce the ASS export. There's nothing to save in your file.
If you really want to save it, you could make use of some basic scripting. You need to parse every [Events]:
- Even events contain the timecodes. Repair the start timecode (add back the hour digits, paying attention to potential increments).
- Odd events contain the dialogue. Replace the zero timestamps with the converted timecode from the even lines.
But if you "received" this file, then it may be faster to ask the sender to not butcher it.Last edited by cibo; 9th Oct 2024 at 02:52.
