  2. hmm.. if you take a look over there to the left of your screen it says "HOW TO", and a little ways below there it will say "EDIT" "CUT, join, edit video".. if you click on the word "EDIT", it will bring up a new window.. scroll down this new window until you see "How to edit, cut or join a AVI/DivX/ASF".. ooh! AVI!!! how to cut it! it must be your lucky day.. and look 2 methods! both with freeware tools.. now was that so hard? nooo.. are you stupid and lazy? yes.. do you deserve this ridicule? i think so, and thats why i'm dispensing it to you, along with your answer

  3. Im having a very similar problem, I am trying to take a 700MB avi divx file and split it in half using VDub, I go to the middle, select start, go to end and mark end, then i go to save avi file...except the only problem is that the projected file size is like 44 gigs, and the video file size flies up rapidly, what am i doing wrong and how can i fix it?

    It does actually say quite clearly in the guide to use Direct Stream Copy!!!!! Why won't people read what is clearly available?

  7. Hi guys.

    I was wondering around here at this forum and just happened to check this post.

    (this is for luzi, Nero converts AVI file into MPEG file if it converts anything)
    But here´s my proposition. I think you are trying to make VCD or SVCD. Then use prog called TMPENG it knows how to handle avis and turn them in to mpegs. then you can burn them in to cd to play with DVD player. Use guide in this address
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgenc.htm
    It tells how to split files for two CD.

    But if I´m wrong and you want only to cut DivX to fit on 2 cd then u have to use Vdub and check that you have correct settings there and I advice you to read carefully how to guides(Beginning I had problems because I wasn´t patient enough to read how to guides carefully ) or follow them step by step.

    I think too that this is place for asking also so called dumb questions and other questions as well. Instead of blaming people for not knowing something you could advice them and so some "team spirit". Remember you were once beginner too.

    Splitting AVI using Vdub

    1, First scan the move and if necessary save out another copy using video and audio streaming to remove bad frames.
    2, Move to start of movie, Mark start of movie.
    3, Move to end of movie and make a note of the number of frames, divide that number by 2 to get middle and select go to frame
    3, hit the yellow keyframe forward once
    4, select audio streaming, video streaming
    5, save as, to save part1
    6, move to middle of movie, hit keyframe backwards once, select start
    7, move to end of move hit end
    8, select save as to save part2

    Splitting Mpeg using TMPGEnc

    1, Load TMPGEnc, select File > Mpeg tools
    2, Select Merge and cut (TAB)
    3, Change drop down arrow to "MPEG1-Video CD" (For VCD's)
    4, Click "Add" select your mpeg from hard drive
    5, highlight movie in window and click Edit
    6, Move slider to end and make a note of the running time and divide this number by 2
    7, Move slider to start of movie and click {
    8, move to center of movie and click }
    9, click OK
    10, hit browse button type in name of movie and the location you want to save it
    11, Click Run
    12, Click edit
    13, move to center of movie and click {
    14, move to end of movie and click } (End)
    15, change the name of your output file from part1 to part2
    16, click Run

    Think thats all correct
