yt-dlp for OneDrive

OneDrive can share a link for external download. Is it possible to use yt-dlp to make a download via this link?

No. It throws unsupported URL. Just download via browser directly.

If the file happens to be a video file it can be even played online (via the URL = https://photos.onedrive.com/share/...) but with a reduced resolution. Maybe we can download this streaming video with the original resolution?

I uploaded a random video on my onedrive and shared it. The generated URL allows me to download directly the file with the original max resolution. Look for the down arrow icon that is meant to represent download functionality.

This down arrow seems not working properly for me so I can only play the video online. Why can’t I download this streaming video with yt-dlp?

I tested again, and as another alternative you could try stream detector addon and n_m3u8dl-re. Use the detector to get the manifest URL and copy it as a N_m3u8DL-RE command that can be ran in terminal. I tried yt-dlp and fails with that but n_m3u8 works.

Edit: it works with yt-dlp too but you need to set a short output name using -o

I tried „yt-dlp https://photos.onedrive.com/share/...“ and got the „Unsupported URL“ error so it has nothing to do with „-o“. With „Video Downloadhelper“ Addon the video can be downloaded but with the reduced resolution. The original file is 1.26GB but the downloaded file is 350MB.

You're using it wrong. Use stream detector, get the manifest URL, and use yt-dlp.

OK. Now I can download the video file with „stream detector“ and „yt-dlp“. Unfortunately the downloaded size is just about 1/3 of the original. I think the downloaded video file is a direct mapping of the played video and this online video is bandwidth limited. Can you confirm this?
