  1. I finished copying the files to my 2.5" external HDD. I ejected the HDD in Windows 10 but the enclosure case LED was on and then I went to pull the USB 3.0 cable but when the cable came out of the PC port my hand hit the side of the HDD case and the case moved slightly to the right of the table. Did this event cause damage to the HDD?

  2. Probably not. But you can run a full file compare to verify there are no data errors. You can use FreeFileSync in "File content" mode (not "File time and Size" mode).

Of course, that only checks the files. if an unused portion of the disk was damaged it won't be able to tell you that. Windows' Chkdsk can perform a non-destructive surface scan.

  3. When ejecting the HDD in Windows 10, even if the case LED is on when pulling and disconnecting the USB 3.0 cable, is the millisecond interval of time for the mechanical arm to come out of the magnetic disk enough to not damage the HDD when the hand touches the HDD case?

  4. Yes, the heads are parked when the drive is shut down. I don't know exactly when that happens relative to the LED being shut off.

  5. When I ejected the HDD in Windows 10 the LED on the enclosure case remains on so I thought the HDD was not turned off and the arm was under the magnetic disks so then I pulled the usb3.0 cable and my hand hit the side of the case and the case moved a little to the right and I thought if this damages the HDD

  6. I have 2.5" HDDs from Seagate, WD, HGST brands, they are inside USB 3.0 cases from Kesu Chinese and Orico brands) I ejected these HDDs in Windows 10 then I pulled the USB 3.0 cable from the PC and my hand hit and shocked the HDD case and moved the case to the left of the table. Does this type of blow damage the HDD and generate bad sectors?

  7. "Does this type of blow damage the HDD and generate bad sectors?" You are probably never going to get an answer to this question as no one wants to try it just to reply to this. Why don't you just try to hook up the drive you may have damaged and see if it works?

  8. If the 2.5" HDD + USB 3.0 enclosure case was ejected from Windows but remains connected and operating, what is the position of the mechanical arms and actuator?

  9. The only way to know for sure if damage was done is to perform a full surface scan.
