    Edit: problem now solved but leaving this here in case it helps anyone

    Get_iplayer can no longer connect to BBC.

    I have whitelisted the command prompt in my firewall so there should be no problems.

    Solution:

    As well as telling your firewall to allow the command prompt. You ALSO need to allow this other program within the folder:
    C:\Program Files\get_iplayer\perl\bin\perl.exe
