  1. Hey and welcome to All,

I'm a total beginner and glad that I found this nice board.

I have some questions concerning Video downloading:

1.) How can I Extrakt or find out the stream-url of live tv channels that can be played in a Webbrowser? I once had a Firefox-Addon who could do that but forgot about it. I need this for my own playlists and tvheadend.

2.) How is it possible to recird from services like netflix? I recently read in a magazine that you can do this with the help of a dvd-t modulator. Is this true?

Thanks in advance for your answer. Have a nice day

    1. Have you tried stream detector addon? Or you can always just check the network requests for m3u8

  4. Hey, I tried that and it really found some .m3u8 urls. But vlc player couldn't play that. I think these weren't the url for the real livestream.

I tried it on this page https://www.kan.org.il. These are israelian channels. I opened the live section but like I said no useable m3u-files. Any ideas?

Use stream detector. Enable it. Refresh page, wait for it to dectect m3u8. Take the one at the bottom. You have a dropdown list somewhere, select Copy stream as streamlink command (obviously you need to install streamlink). Open terminal in a folder, paste that command, delete -o "file_name" parameter and hit enter. It will open VLC or other media player automatically. It's not working in VLC directly because you most likely need to pass some additional headers.

All of the m3u8 are usable. They have to be used in a specific way though

You can find more information here about its usage
    https://streamlink.github.io/cli.html

Stream detector will just generate the command for you automatically, but it's always good to know additional parameters according to your specific use case.
