  1. Hello all,
I've been using TMPGenc for about two years now with never any issues with synch. But a couple of weeks ago I got my friend interested in capturing and I got him everything he needed to get started. After he captures (the captures audio is in synch) he converts using TMPGenc and the resulting MPEG is fine...but then upon burning and playing on his DVD player the sound synch is way off....(I have him using Nero by the by) Now not having a stand alone DVD player I'm not sure what to think...is this an issue with his DVD player? Is it an issue with the burn process? I just don't know what to think....I've never had this happen before...help.

  2. OK - we need to narrow the field a little here .......

Does his DVD player playback all TMPGenc encoded files with the same sync error?
Are you encoding MPEG1 or MPEG2 files (VCD or SVCD)?
    Fixed or Variable BitRate?
    What bitrates?
    What VBV (buffer size)?
What TV system (PAL or NTSC)?
What's the make/model of his DVD player?

As a rapid attempt to sort this, you could try de-multiplexing the final MPG file (using TMPGenc) and then re-muxing it with BBMPEG as BBMPEG is superb at creating 'standardised' files.

Hope this helps ..... Sue xxx

  3. I am trying to get him to experiment more and figure out what files his DVD player will play. But he says that it claims to be able to play VCDs (I'm tempted to send him a commercial VCD and see if it plays it) everything else I had him do was completely standard. Capture to MJEG .avi, convert using TMPGenc NTSC template at high motion....no alterations to the template (i.e. CBR)....I'll get the info on his DVD make and model. Though I will have him try the remux thing I don't think it will help as the VCD is in synch on the computer....hmmmmm.....

  4. OK - when you get the other info or results from testing, give me a shout and I'll try to help.

PC playback is generally very forgiving as far as irregular buffer sizes and scan-offsets ...... DVD players are renound to be a pain in the ass!!

  5. Ive had the same problem m8..

I found that the original file (DIVX) was at fault, and so when I re-encoded with Tmpge.. it just copied the error into Mpg format.

I suggest you check the source file and ensure that this has no errors on it.. if it has, then maybe try to fix it with some on the tools in the section opposite.

Im trying it now with my "corrupt file".. Ill let you know how I get on.
