I open a 2960x2160 mkv file with avidemux, it takes a while to load and when done it crashes. well actually the avidemux window closes with no message so I assume it's a crash. Thoughts and or more info needed to resolve? -thank you

Try to open this video with another editor, g.e. virtualdub2 or clever FFmpeg-GUI.

NO encoding tkaes place, no loss of quality.
Open mkvtoolnix GUI, drag your source into the window,
and create a new MKV file. Use that in Avidemux.
If it still unexpectedly closes, open the Windows Event viewer, look at Application
and System events at the corresponding timestamp for any related errorsLast edited by davexnet; 15th Sep 2024 at 22:00.
