    Hi,
How do I force Handbrake to do maximum 4 reference frames, in Slower-preset, when converting a DVD "720x576" to x264-mkv, using Advanced Options? I mean, what do I write in the box? Normally it gives me 8, but my TV can't handle more than 4. And i'd like to use Slower-preset as it gives better quality than Medium-preset.

  2. Set the Encoder level to 4.1 (or below).

Are you sure? The tests i've done, is with 4.0 and I still get 8 reference frames.

  4. Advance Options: bluray-compat=1:ref=3
(or better learn ffmpeg commandlines and drop the GUI)
