    I download movies to an external hard drive, then play them in SMPlayer. Recently, every movie I play 'jumps' as though display is frame by frame, but the sound track is continuous. How to restore smoothness to the video display ?

    In the absence of any advice to fix it, I replaced the motherboard - now videos are played smoothly again.
