  2. try to download the forceASPI file.

run a google searcf for forceASPI and download it into your current aspi folder, may or may not work though....

  3. You don't need to use ForceASPI anymore (though it will work just fine).

Adapatec now releases their ASPI layer as a download for free: http://www.vcdhelp.com/tools.htm

  4. for NO reason! do NOT use the latest v4.7 ASPI that Adaptec released! ask anyone who used it for anything, it causes troubles!, stick to 4.6, you can download an installation from the homepage of CladDVD.

  5. I'm curious as to what problems have been described Sefy?

I myself actually just used ForceASPI on my WinXP installations with no problems (I already had it around).

Also I already had troubles using the latest ASPI (v.4.70) of Adaptec. If you're using the aspichk-tool of the v.4.60 aspi-drivers, you would see there are both 4.70 and 4.60 files installed.
In some cases this would lead to troubles, in others it would work fine.

Therefore better install ASPI 4.60 - As it seems, there are many utils to hack the ASPI to force to install; even if no scsi is initialy installed.
Anyway, if you can get ASPI 4.60 installed at you windows system (for all win-versions), you won't get any problems with for instance cdrDao ever.

  7. vitualis, well, as you know me, I like experimenting with everything, so when those 4.7 came out, I tried them, at first it doesn't seem to have problems, but then I suddently started having buffer under run problems, i've lost 2 CD's, and before you tell me it might be my system, i'll tell you this, i've not lost a single CD before that incident, I immediatly removed and reinstalled the 4.6 and i've not had troubles since.

But if you don't take my words for it, I think I can find a few emails left from people who told me they were having problems as well since installing 4.7 and going back to 4.6 solved their problems.

You can also see on CladDVD's homepage that the author himself said those drivers were the buggiest piece of software he saw.

  8. Hey Sefy, I believe you!

I just hadn't bothered "updating" to the newer version yet and was wondering what problems people have had.

It seems like ForceASPI is still the way to go...

  9. Actually you can get a better installer for the 4.6 Build 1021, you can find it on the CladDVD homepage in the latest downloads section.
