I've been following the DVD->VCD instructions with no problems. Everything comes out perfectly. I was wondering how to include the alternate endings, director's interviews, actor information, etc. onto the VCD? Right now, all that ever copies to my VCDs is just the movie.

Here's what I've been using to convert:
    Smart Ripper 2.41
    DVDX 1.8
    VCDEasy 1.0.9

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

  2. Now you're getting into the nitty gritty. On a DVD there are various folders where the files are kept. The sercret is to found the .vob that contains the extras that you need.

Best program to use will be smartripper.

Practise and you'll soon master it.

Hey - thanks a lot for the reply. I've noticed that other people have recently posted similar questions in the past few days. It looks like I need to start using DVD2AVI to be able to view the .vob files that contain the extras that I want, and then use Smart Ripper to rip the files. After that, I'm going to try the TMPGENC software approach (I like DVDx better), and see how it all turns out.

Thanks again for your help. If it doesn't turn out, I'm sure I'll be back! :P

I've used a mix of a bunch of different guides. I started with this link:
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/sefy/?id=start.html

I used Smart Ripper to rip the DVD, skipped the frame serving portion, used DVDx to encode it, VCDEasy to set up chapters, and also VCDEasy to burn the VCD. I haven't had any problems. I've just followed the settings as they are shown in the "how to" file.

I just figured out that if I use Smart Ripper and extract all of the files in the Title Menu screen, I can even include all of the extra features that come with the DVD! Now if only I can get all of the goodies to burn to the VCD....
