    Hello!

I have had too long to listen to a MIDI file, probably over a year. All this time I was updating Media Player Classic to the last version using the MEGA pack. So I am not sure if after some version Media Player Classic lost its ability to play MIDI files or some setting was reset during the upgrade affecting MIDI playback. I double-click on the file, it opens, but I hear no sound and at bottom right is the no audio speaker icon. All files play fine with other applications such as WinAmp or VLC. How can I fix this?

Just in case it matters I use the CoolSoft VirtualMidiSynth to improve the MIDI quality using a custom SoundFont and the CoolSoft Midi Mapper to easily make VirtualMidiSynth default in place of Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. Both updated to latest version. I was using them before with the same settings without any issues.

  2. Using MPC-HC 2.3.3 from https://github.com/clsid2/mpc-hc/releases .mid files from https://bitmidi.com/ play fine.
I you can share a .mid file you can't play, I can test whether it works here.

I usually update MPC-HC via K-Lite codec Mega pack. There is a new version of K-Lite codec I haven't updated to yet. I will update and see.. I will then check Github to newer version of MPC-HC

  4. Personally, I don't have any use for a codec pack, I usually update MPC-HC when it reports that a new version is available.
Fingers crossed that the new version works for you.

I downloaded latest MPC-HC 64-bit version from Github and installed it to C:\Program Files\MPC-HC instead of the usual K-lite folder. It does play MIDI files, so it is something replated to the settings or the LAV filters. I tried to use modified LAV filters in order to play VVC (Versatile Video Codec) video files. Since they take way too long to create with my hardware and apart from a couple of files for tests, I don't have other such files, I think I will switch to the default LAV filters as soon as I upgrade to latest K-Lite codecs. I need the codecs to encode/decode videos at various formats using VirtualDub and other applications, so uninstalling them is out of question. I will upgrade to latest K-Lite Mega codec pack first and chech MPC-HC version. If is not latest, I will then update manually from Github. Thanks all.

I updated K-Lite Mega codec pack to version 18.4.8 which also installed latest LAV filters and latest MPC-HC, so I didn't have to also update these. MIDI files now play as expected. Thanks for your help.
