Someone please help me....I'm at the end of my rope trying to create (s)vcds using only a mac. I can't find any software that can overburn cds. WHY ISN'T THERE A SOFTWARE FOR MAC THAT CAN OVERBURN CDS!!![]()
Now I heard that cdrdao can overburn cds..only prob is that it is a CLI...which is chinese to me without a proper manual. So can someone please describe to me step by step how to (over)burn (s)vcds with cdrdao. I mean like a "cdrdao for dummies" sort of thing. I'm not saying that I'm a dummy...but I do need help. The little stuff that I've read here regarding cdrdao seems to skip a few steps. I need more detail ergo step by step. Anyways thank you for taking the time to read my "plea".

You know it is suppose to be easy to build a front end to a CLI program. I the CDRDAO doesn't have a lot of options to choose from. Could someone make a front end?
Thanks

Assuming you're burning a SVCD .bin/.cue, and your burner is recognized by cdrdao (if not, try to add --driver generic-mmc or --driver generic-mmc-raw to the command line) here is the command line to use for overburning:
sudo cdrdao write --device IOCompactDiscServices --overburn filename.cue
Copy it exactly as it is, only replacing "filename.cue" with your svcd .cue file (drop it on the terminal window). It will ask you admin password to run.
CLI mode is not so difficult, but a basic knowledge of Unix is needed. This tutorial is a good start. -
As you know there are two simple GUI front-ends to cdrdao for Mac OS X:
One quick and dirty at I put together homepage.mac.com/rnc
And one Jesper has been working on homepage.mac.com/jesper_nilsson/FileSharing1.html
I have been asked by a interface designer the following questions, I have answered about all I know.
If you have experience with CDRDAO, please help out.
Is it possible to not "overburn"
Overburning is now prevented by default and must be explicitly requested with option --overburn
r to burn multiple session? When I read the webpage that I sent you before it seamed like you just burned a whole media by choosing a toc-file
Still looking at the webpage to figure this out.
Do you need to set the device and drive before choosing "disk-info" or "unlock"?
Yes
Unlock is a tool that you use separatly, after a failed write?! (without any other options)
Yes
Is "force" a tool that you use to abort a current process (burning/simulation) then it should be hidden before starting a process. Can you make this?
Toc-files with tracks that are shorter than 4 seconds will be recorded if option '--force' is given.
What does "swap" do?
As I understand this has to do with copying or burning wav audio from or to a cd.
Can overburn write over with new data direct or does it need to erase before?
Overburn allows about 80 minutes of media to be put on a 74 minute disk.
Reload is it used during the burn process or as a single command?
I don't know
