I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I was planning on doing more D-VHS transfers, but my unit stopped playing D-VHS tapes. When I popped in a tape, it said "WAIT A MINUTE
CALIBRATING. . ." and the image never popped up, it's stuck on a grey screen. I tried another tape, same issue. Something must've failed. Is there any fix for this? Is it even worth fixing?

Perhaps the tape path is dirty. Do you know how to inspect and clean it?

I cleaned the heads, but that's about it. I'm not sure where to start.

If you search for JVC D-VHS calibrating 201:
You can read it is a long time issue plaguing the D-VHS owners.
