  1. Hi all. Even though I've figured out how to download videos from lots of sites, including Mubi.com, I'm having a horrible time trying to download the subtitles for those videos.

Can anyone give me guidance how to get the English subs for any video on Mubi

    Here's the latest one I can't get: https://mubi.com/en/es/films/kirikou-and-the-wild-beasts

and as an fyi, you can only stream this on in 12 countries: https://whatsonmubi.com/film/kirikou-and-the-wild-beasts

Can't see the video. But usually the downloading steps are those:
    - stream detector, play video, select subtitle manually and see if it's detected by the addon either as srt, vtt, etc
    - if doesn't work, right click inspect network requests, refresh page, see if the video is loaded as a mpd/ism/m3u8 etc and use N_m3u8DL-RE on it, chances are that the subtitle is available as a track there
    - if doesn't work, export all the requests as a HAR collection and open it notepad++, ctrl+f for keywords like srt, vtt, sub, etc. and see if you find it anywhere, either as part of a json
    - if doesn't work, then maybe it's base64 encoded

Quite a few possibilities, can't say for sure which one is right sadly. But that's just what I do for any site when I want to get the original subs.

  3. Thanks for those steps. I'll jump on it and go down the rabbit hole later tonight. Checking the other threads, hopefully won't be too crazy since it's just subs.

    Let the fun begin
