  3. Daum PotPlayer 240618 (1.7.22266) changelog:
Added the ability to set the font for OSD playback information
Added the ability to name albums in environment management automatic conditions
Added the ability to go to the previous/next section in the section repeat list
Added ability to not wait for vertical sync
Added system media transport control function
Modified the window border skin to be prettier.
Modified the subtitle format to be displayed in the name of the built-in subtitles.
Fixed an issue where frame steps did not work properly in the built-in video renderer.

This shows that they are updating it more regularly than you would think. If you want the newest codecs than you need to usually do a complete uninstallation with the help of Geek Uninstaller or Revo Uninstaller to remove extra traces of the program. After you install the beta version of Potplayer, then you'd do the extra codecs installation along with a newer updated version of OpenCodec. I feel the installer for Potplayer is not good when you do a simple update installation.

*another note*: It would be nice if Potplayer did a better job on their subtitle rendering to look sharper like programs such as MPV, VLC, MPC-BE, MPC-HC, etc.

PotPlayer gets updated quite often, actually. There have been at least 8 stable releases and 50 beta releases so far in 2024.

What gave you the impression it was discontinued?

  5. Hmmm.. i'm using version 1.7.351!
The culprit to not self-update must be that is installed in Win 7 :/

    Right?
go into PotPlayer preferences window, either by clicking on the PotPlayer icon on the upper bar and clicking on Preferences, or by pressing F5
and see if you have automatic updates or auto check for update disabled.
