  1. Aw man! If someone comes out with a good divx/mpeg4 player, alot more people will buy an xbox. Because from what I hear not to many bought one and this could really spark sales among divx users, like myslef

  2. i'd definetly buy an xbox if a modchip were available, and these rumors of divx playback were true.. because what was able to be done on the psx & dreamcast was pretty amazing... the only thing i am concerned about are the counter measures microsoft will take.. such as "updating" your xbox system..

hrm, really? i thought xbox sales were pretty good, considering it's far superior compared w/ PS2 and even the gamecube (hardware and maybe software wise too)...PS2's crappy handling of the graphics hardware resulted in all those jagged edges in their games...too bad final fantasy isn't on gamecube or xbox, it would definitely look better

  4. Xbox sales have been pretty slugish. Many people dont want to invest in it because they simply have to much tied up in playstation. Both with PS and PS2 games. Not to mention the people who just hate microsoft.

Many are waiting to see if this chip will pan out because since the xbox has the architecture of a pc, both in hardware and software, it was a very likely candidate for modification. If this mod chip works, I am sure there will be many many programs writen for it.

Like Divx players, and I got an even better idea, since it had network capabilities,I would like to see a gnutella client come out. People could sit on their couch and download movies and music to their xboxes.
