I'm a 3d animator and I need a VR headset to view and evaluate my own stereoscopic animations. The final images are produced by placing two images side by side (each 1280 x 720) into a single image (2560 x 720) in PNG format. Of course, each pair is rendered from two virtual cameras placed 7 centimeters apart. The animation is then output in Microsoft Video-1 (AVI) format. This is done in Adobe Premiere. The headset should route the left half to the left eye and the right half to the right eye. I don't need a headset that has extra wide viewing angles nor do I need motion sensors or any kind of interaction or tracking -- my use is not for gaming. Which modestly priced VR headset will give me these minimum features? Also, is the AVI format compatible with most VR headsets? What about MPEG4? Can someone tell me how this one frame of my animation looks on their headset?
