  1. I am connecting a streaming device to a dvd recorder using a hdmi to av connector since dvd recorder don't have hdmi input. No matter if I connect recorder to tv using av cables or hdmi via av to hdmi converter picture is a little blurry . How can I fix this? Do I need to get dvd recorder with standard to hd upscaleing? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

  2. DVDs are standard definition video (720x480 NTSC, 720x576 PAL, at best; and the analog signal you're recording has even lower horizontal resolution). If you're recording high definition HDMI the DVD recording will not be as sharp as the source.

Whenever I used digital to analog converters I always got a blurry and and washed out picture.

I don't know what streaming service you are using, but maybe you can try a streaming device that has native RCA analog out. Maybe a Blu-ray player with streaming capabilities or some kind of android box.

But that being said, watching a DVD on a large HDTV can result in a blurry picture. Did you try to watch the DVD on a PC without maximizing the video or watching it on a standard CRT TV to see if it is blurry?

  4. No I'm not watching a dvd. I was looking at video from streaming device basicly routed through dvd recorder using a hdmi to av converter. . After some research and more thought I think my hdmi toav converter may be going bad cause before when I have done this picture lost some sharpness as expected going from hd to sd but there wasn't any blurriness.

The output of the "hdmi to av" converter is interlaced. To view that on a modern progressive display it has to be deinterlaced.

  9. How do you deinterlace it?

  10. Most players will deinterlace on the fly.
