Hey i have a budget of around 300 bucks and i need a card that does very high quality analog capture. It doesnt have to have decent software ( since i already have a copy of premire) and it doesnt have to do video out.

I just bought the Pinnacle Studio Deluxe. Is has a breakout box that connects to firewire that captures at a fixed DV quality. There are RCA stereo/composite video/S Video Inputs AND Outputs. You can pick it up for about $260. Comes with Pinnacle Studio, which must be used for capturing. I give a review when i get it if you want.

PCMag has a short review of it, so does videoguys.com, but they are biased b/c they want you to buy it. xiaNaix has some old posts about it and he seemed to like it. If you can stand the fixed capture, I would say it is the way to go for high quality. Also try the Canapus ADVC-100 (spelling?), I heard it is great, but it needs a firewire connection. I didn't buy it b/c I don't have a firewire card and i wanted included software. Decide what format you want to capture in. DV is the highest, then MPG-2, then MPG-1. Be sure to factor in a new harddrive if you need it, because you'll need alot of space.
