  1. Hi,

Someone I know will be appearing on Sky News and I'd like to grab it for them.
There doesn't seem to be any archive service, but there is a live stream here: https://news.sky.com/watch-live which I can access (I'm in the UK).

Is there any tool which I can use to download that stream? I'm happy to set it running at the right time.

    Thanks

Tubedigger can do it but the trial mode is very limited.

Clips do appear on Sky News YT channel.

Now when I read this, it reminds me of an episode of Gavin and Stacy. Gavin's father is set to appear on the 'news' and both families gather around their tv sets eagerly awaiting his appearance - which lasts all of 30 seconds

  3. Code:
    streamlink -o skynews.ts https://linear417-gb-hls1-prd-ak.cdn.skycdp.com/100e/Content/HLS_001_1080_30/Live/channel(skynews)/index_1080-30.m3u8 best
You could use the -r switch instead of -o to watch and record at the same time, but that seems to produce sync issues, so it's just best to use the -o switch and open the .ts video manually.

yt-dlp and N_m3u8DL-RE can also do this job, but streamlink is usually the go-to for live content (as long as it's not DRM protected).

Interesting! I never knew about the --ffmpeg-dkey switch. Streamlink just got better in my mind.
