  1. Hello, i have few videos with Dolby Vision Profile 7.6
Problem is on my tv (Sony Bravia xf9005) it plays black and white only.
Also have videos with Dolby Vision Profile 8.1 and they play correctly.

So is there some way with MKVToolnix or anything else to change that profile ?

  2. You would need to convert the metadata not just changing the profile info.
dovi_tool should be able to convert the metadata.
There are guis like HDR-Multi-Tool out there, but I have never tested them.

Just thinking out loud here, have you tried whether your SONY tv does accept P7 in mp4 container? Where you may wanna try both STDL (single track dual layer) and DTDL (dual track dual layer). P7 in mkv is STDL. Remuxing to (STDL) mp4 can easily be done with cleverFFmpeg GUI.

I don't know of a all-in-one-tool that properly converts Dolby Vision P7 to P8. I know MKVToolNix certainly doesn't. There are several free DoVi scripts at your disposal, written by several DoVi knowledgable guys. Using these scripts do call for some learning on your part about several DoVi constructs.
