Ok - I need some more info on your setup
What OS are you using and also what version of Moviestar do you have?
you should be using at the very least 4.23 or 4.24 for Win XP
and finally what type of MPEG are you capturing? DVD / SVCD / VCD or a custom mix?
The only apps that can cap with the Dazzle are moviestar and TWNH
DVC II uses a special capture system and only Moviestar can cap.
Nothing else will work - except TWNH.
Actually TWNH is a shell that calls parts of moviestar without loading all the bulky "junk" overhead that moviestar also includes such as titles and MPEG frame timelines.
Have you installed all the components on the install cd?
Dazzle requires installation of Mediamatics DVDExpress and DVDit LE to install the Directshow MPEG codecs to allow correct playback of MPEG 2 footage.
Correct operation of this can be determined by being able to play SVCD or DVD quality footage in media player - this also allows TMPEGenc to open mpeg files without an error. If you still get a pack sync error check you can load a DVD class MPEG 2 clip in media player and in mediamatics
Although I must admit that I haven't had this problem.
For more info contact me on my email address - If I can assist I will. -
Thanks for the reply!
First off I am using Windows XP Pro for my OS
Moviestar 2.24 XP
and I have tried VCD and DVD mpegs...
I installed all the software from the Dazzle install CD.
oh and Im getting lines in my video captures even with a clear, sharp picture. I am currenly on cable but switching to a Dish in a few days...
Thanks for any help! -
Virtualdub wont open Mpg-2 videos ... not supported.
Tmpge ... will ... try some of the older versions or perhaps some of the newer versions.
Email me ... I've got them ... Email is possible as Rar attachments.
Check my post
"Bad Video Capture ... It was EXCELLENT ... I need help"
I still need help ... gosh darn it.
Sincerely ... Gary -
One thing you need to do is use the MovieStar "produce" function to produce a proper mpeg2 after you've captured.
Then TMPGEnc might open it.
However, what I do is run dvd2avi on the mpeg file, and use the *.d2v file it produces then downsample with TMPGEnc (or using AVISYnth/CCE). I process the mp2 separately (either just mux it with the downsampled video, or use BeSweet to downsample it).
Basically, you can use any of the guides that use dvd2avi, and instead of pointing to VOBS from a DVD you can point it to an MPeg file from MovieStar.
Good luck. -
Sorry for the delay Moondog2u I have been busy last couple of days
You should not need to "produce" your movie or do any post capture processing to open the MPG files in TMPEGenc. And while you can use DVD2AVI and it works well you don't need to unless you want some feature a frameserver provides
I have my VFAPI settings in Enviroment set to Directshow 3, AVI (all) 2 and the rest to one
I can open in TMPEGenc any of my captured MPG's
You should also be able to open all your captured movies with Media player - even SVCD although media player won't recognise SVCD and will display it without correting the picture sizing - it will play.
The only thing I can't do it capture in VCD format it locks up moviestar!!
I can cap in SVCD or DVD mode though so it's OK -
Just a quick one. If you need more help about the Dazzle, you may want to try the unofficial the DVC2 discussion forum at

Cheers
