Thanks for updating vdub2 . Does it save it's HKCU preferences in the same registry key as the previous version -
if so, any problems switching back and forth?

Oops - I checked myself, it uses the same key. Hopefully it's compatible

In general it is compatible. There are a few known issues though, upgrading the ffmpeg module to a recent version is tricky due to the API changes, and using a newer C compiler to build the EXE also revealed an instability with some 64 bit VfW codecs (like ffvfw).

Thank you CarlOtto for posting the VirtualDub2 news. This is still quite a useful program.

LigH.de, I notice mentioned in the doom9 discussion a need for the x264 plugin to be updated in VirtualDub2.
I have posted an updated build here. A 32bit build is included though it may not be relevant anymore.

    Great job!

Quick test: Works in VDub2 build 44282 in both bitnesses. The "help" window does not mention support for qpfile, but that may be due to displaying an outdated pre-generated text. I found the qpfile parameter in the binary. It does not complain when using it. Whether it handled it as expected, I cannot be sure though.

You are quite right. The help info is out of date. The qpfile setting appears in the x264.c file from the x264 code with which the plugin is built but it will have to be manually edited in the vdplugin code.

Correction: A warning about an unsupported option "--qpfile" appeared at the end.

It appears the qpfile parameter is set as a "not supported option" in the plugin code, along with a few others.

In theory it should work very similar to the "zone" parameter, just a slightly different syntax, some different features, and a text file access.
