  1. Anyone know of any good software to do this? I am hoping yes, otherwise I will have to build a separate Windows partition and run something like BDRB or DVDFab there as I want to get off of Microsoft products for my stuff.

  2. The difficult part will be ripping the BD.

    I normally use MakeMKV on Manjaro, which has served me well for the most part.

    One thing, I normally do not recommend re-encoding BD50 to BD25 unless the encoder used is of a newer generation.

    For instance:

    MPEG2 --> AVC, yes
    AVC --> AVC, no
    AVC --> HEVC, yes

    You get the idea.

    I also recommend always keeping a dual boot, I have been dual booting Windows with Linux for over 20 years.

    The reality is that there are times you may want to use Windows only software, like a Magix product, or a cross platform program that just happens to run better on Windows, like Shotcut.
