I have a couple large boxes of old VHS tapes I plan to digitize, so I have been looking for good quality refurbished VCRs. A company called Southern Advantage has a Sony SVO-2000 and Panasonic AG-1980 I have been looking at. They are pricy, but I am willing to pay a little more for quality.
For you VCR gods out there, would you be able to give guidance as to what the better choice would be? The Panasonic is about $500 more, and I am trying to figure out if it is worth the extra cost.
Any suggestions or advice are welcome, as I am a total nube in this area.
Thank you!

No, don't buy from Southern Advantage.
Not those ancient Sony either.
If you need an AG-1980, then user Deter. Just be aware of of how costly those decks can be to own. Not the initial costs, but upkeep costs. The AG-1980 is not for newbies.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
