  1. Recently I have had a message when I've tried to open two movies that I've downloaded. The message states that an improper VBR audio coding was detected and that it was changing it to a standard CBR audio encoding. When it does this the audio is so messed up that I can't burn the VCD. What is the VBR encoding and is there anyway to fix this through Virtualdub so that I can split this file and burn it?

Load the avi into Vdub. Select audio>>full processing mode. Save the wav which will now be a (big) uncompressed wav file. Use this as the audio input when creating a VCD with TMPGEnc.

I'm assuming here you are not trying to create a VCD by loading the avi direct into Nero, or something like that. Most times the results will be extremely disappointing. There are some excellent guides to creating good VCD fron DivX elsewhere on this site. The best IMO use TMPGEnc. 8)
