I'm looking to rebuild a disc of bonus features. One of them is an audio commentary track which I want to maintain without any video.
Is there a DVD_ROM style folder that can be added to a Blu-ray disc properly?

Heck, is it possible to mux a still frame to an audio track that will act as video for the full length?

No. You can't simply add a folder, especially one that is not standard for Blu-ray. You will need to author a new Blu-ray to add content.

You can't pair an actual still with audio. What you can do is create a video that is the same length as the audio track but appears to be a still because there is no movement.

You CAN actually add a simple ROM folder. However, it will not "play" in a Blu-ray player. It would be usable on a computer as standard playable media files, though.

BD spec does allow to pair audio with a still or sequence of stills, but it is a very advanced type of authoring option, and I have only seen it available in Scenarist ($$$$). So for all normal consumer intents and purposes, it's unavailable.

I assumed this was for playback on a Blu-ray player. I never thought about computer playback. I should have remembered that I used to add a folder to some DVDs containing instructional videos to store PDF documents related to the videos.

Well... not only Scenarist. This is called Browsable Slideshow.

I mean if you google it - you will find mentions that someone did it in Adobe Encore.

May be there is even a way to do it using opensource tools. You need to create 2 m2ts files - one with a still video and another audio only, and create right playlist and clip info files.
