I've seen different forks of WKS-KEY but I'm not sure which one is the "official" or the one most people use.
There is no github for this. I cannot even remember its source;. BUT each and every WKS-KEYS uses a data structure called 'protobuf' It was invented at Google for dealing with temporary information storage, as I understand.

Pywidevine and WKS-KEYS both in slightly different ways allow you to communicate with a license server to get a coded message which your CDM decrypts to produce keys.

Still with me? Both Pywidevine and WKS-KEYS use the python protobuf module. Pywidevine, being more recent, uses version 4.x.x protobuf. WKS-KEYS, the ones you see in ALL githubs, are OLD now; they use protobuf 3.x.x.

If ever you use WKS-KEYS and pywidevine together, (in the same python environment), the system will throw an error 'wrong protobuf'.

So... the version here https://files.videohelp.com/u/301890/WKS-KEYS.zip is the same as all the Github versions BUT it has protobuf updated to version 4.x.x To date there have been 3915 downloads of WKS-KEYS on that URL and no-one has complained it is 'the wrong version'.

However that version dumps a couple of files each time you use it in the working folder. They get overwritten on each use. A correction that doesn't do that was posted but has been picked up by only 412 users. Suggest you use the correction https://files.videohelp.com/u/301890/WKS-KEYS_L3_correction.zip

I see. Very interesting really, I'm quite newbie on this, and I have read all your sticky posts, they're very helpful and I could decrypt a few things I wanted.
As for the 3915 downloads versus the 412 downloads, I believe it has to do with the fact that you put the old WKS-KEYS link in the guide that most of us read first:

Maybe if you edit it and put the link to the corrected one, more newbie users will start grabbing it
