  1. Hello, I'm completing my hardware stack for VHS capture.
    VCR has SCART outputs (I believe both are full 21 pin), GV-USB2 is on its way and it has s-video.

    Can anyone recommend quality SCART->s-video (SCART male->s-video male) cable on-line? Even the respected brand name would be good advice.
    Like this? https://www.ebay.it/itm/335127985225

    Preferably shortest possible as I would rather extend the digitalized USB connection than transmit analog over longer cables.

    Thanks.

    bonus question, does s-video carries audio?

    Maybe I would rather have SCART breakout adapter (SCART male to chinch L+R, s-video female and composite chinch) https://www.av-connection.com/?PGr=139

    plus
    s-video male->s-video-male https://www.av-connection.com/?PGr=130

    First of all, are you sure that your VCR can output Y/C? Devices doing that generally also have S-Video connector. What's your VCR?

  3. Golden ones not necessary but get one that has good shielding (so bigger than usual), same principle for single A/V cables and obviously 75 ohms certified

    Unknown model to me. Are you sure it can output Y/C (I suspect not)?

    That's a regular VHS VCR, S-Video is not relevant here, Just get a SCART cable with yellow, red and white RCA connectors on one end.

  7. Yes. Look for something like this:

    You may then use a recommended DVD recorder (Panasonic) in passthrough to 'convert' the yellow Composite video to S-video. It would help to stabilize the picture (wobbling, flagging ...) and reduce the typical composite artifacts (dotcrawl, rainbows).
    First try with the GV USB 2 composite alone as it provides an acceptable Y/C filtering.

  8. Appreciate your help on this, crap, I thought that this VCR is worth something (4 read heads, 2 write heads). Need to re-think another device. Still will see if Composite produces any useful result.

    All VCRs have only 2 heads for playing and recording, Some have extra two heads for low speed, but only two heads at a time are used for normal playback or recording, 4 head is a marketing gimmick.
