Toshiba DVR620KU VHS/DVD Combo Player-Recorder

After more than an hour of dubbing from VHS to DVD I keep getting an on-screen error message: RECORDING ERROR Can not record on this disc. E 3 28031100

I’m attempting to record on brand new, unblemished Memorex DVD+R discs. I successfully dubbed about 60 Memorex +R and Verbatim -R DVDs from VHS tapes and a camcorder during a few months of use, from new purchase and installation of the DVR620KU. Then the DVR620KU sat unplugged for 2-3 years. Now I get the error message and code when trying to dub from VHS to DVD about 1 hour into a dubbing attempt.

Any ideas what might be wrong?
