download failed bitdefender thinking companion app is malware

I am attempting to download streaming videos and I have tried various websites and I keep getting the same error. I am unsure if this is the correct place to ask this question but thanks in advance.

hard to tell what the problem is from that error log.
if you paste the m3u8 link into a browser does it download/show the m3u8 file?

when I try to use the link to download (atleast I think that's what you are advising me to do) it downloads a 23 KB file which is unplayable. I know two days ago bitdefender started going nuts and blocked/removed several files from C:\Program Files\DownloadHelper CoApp\vdhcoapp.exe & C:\Program Files\DownloadHelper CoApp\ffprobe.exe, I ended up reinstalling the companion app for video downloadhelper but since then it hasn't worked. I have removed and reinstalled but something broke and I am unsure what seems to be the issue. Who should I reach out to get assistance with it. Thanks in advance.

as youve said, it looks like the companion app for video downloadhelper is corrupted - maybe someone else can advise on how to fix it.
you could try their support forum

the 23KB file is the m3u8 (manifest) file that has the links to all the video segments, so if you can download that then its not blocked so it should work with yt-dlp or n_m3u8dl-re to download the video, if you want an alternative.
