video file issue

hello, i have a major problem, i recorded a tv show on my set top and the show was an 1 hour and 30 minutes long, but the file shows that the duration was only 16 minutes long but when played in VLc media player it still retains its 1 hour and 30 minute recorded time, what can i do to fix this, and the file is in MTS format too

What does MediaInfo say about your file? It might be a good idea to re-render or produce the file to a similar or identical format to see if that removes the possible corruption.

Drag the file into MKVtoolnix GUI and have it create an MKV file, this will often cleanup issues like this
