  1. i have a very good avi file of black hawk down, and i want to burn it as a vcd cause my player cant play svcd. i erad somewhere that i should have divx 311 and 4.0. is it a MUST? also do i have to change anything in the file? thanks and sorry for all the questions

    It doesn't matter which version DivX you have. So long as you can play the DivX you can encode to VCD-compliant mpg. Many DivX have VBR sound, so it's best (IMO) to extract an uncompressed wav first before converting. There are some very good instrux elsewhere on this site. I would use TMPGEnc. 8)

  4. i did EXACTLY that, but my sony dvp s55od still wont recognize it. it keeps saying NO CD. i dont know if im burning incorrectly, because i have watched vcd's on it before.

    Sony players can be very choosy about which discs they recognise. I think you need to use the same brand of disc which played OK in the past.
