  1. Hi,

    I've a video media file and "mediainfo" shows it has QuickTime TC subtitles. However I don't see the subtitles while playing the video in MPC-HC/BE, VLC.

    Not sure if the subtitles are indeed in there or not. How do I confirm that?

    Please advse,
    Thanks

    Timecode != subtitles.

    I don't know what app will show TC other than QT player itself.

  3. The subtitles are not shown with QT player as well.

  4. It is NOT a subtitle track. It is a timecode track. (As Cornucopia said.)

    The timecode will show up in the counter of the quicktime player, not superimposed over the image.

    I haven't used quicktime player in years -- but I recall you can switch the counter display to either runtime or timecode.

    The "big" NLEs -- Premiere, Resolve, Avid and Vegas can also read QT timecode tracks.

    Also, timecode tracks usually give a start time, so yours may be empty anyway.

    Are you on MacOS? - Quicktime should play this

    If you are on Windows MPV might play it - you need to press J on the keyboard after you open the file

    If Mediainfo is not showing a subtitles track (and assuming mi supports that track format) then that file doesn't have subs.

    Maybe the 'MediaLooks QuickTime Source DirectShow Filter' can help out, it is supposed to function together with other media players allso if quicktime player 7.7 is installed together with the MediaLooks QuickTime Filter. From the info found one of the features is to read QuickTime Time Codes (TC), maybe then it will function with the Media Player Classic allso!.
