Downloading subtitles from www.ardmediathek.de

I was able to download the video from:

(You may need a VPN). But there weren't any subtitles. However, there is an option to watch with German subtitles. Years ago, I was able to get the subtitles using the GUI for Youtube-dl. They were .vtt files, but I would just convert those to .srt. I am unable to get any subtitles for this episode. I'm hoping someone can help me out. I actually just used JDownloader 2 for the video files. But I need some help figuring out how to get the German subtitles so that I can translate them to English.

OK. I found it using Chrome. Did you convert it to a .SRT file? Alright. I just opened the .xml file up in Subtitle Edit and it seems to be working fine. Thank you!

There is an easier way, especially if you need to download several videos.

Install MediateckView. Start it and wait until it finds more than 700,000 titles.
In the search box at the top, type Der Wassermann. Notice the UT is checked which means this video has Untertil (subtitles).
Mouse right click and select Film aufzeichnen. select untertitel and or video in the quality that you need.

Thanks everyone. I've always been terrible with command line, but I'll give it a try. I set up JDownloader and will see what happens. I need to get my VPN working again. I'll check out MediateckView as well.
