  1. Hello,
I have 2 questions about DAO96 or Disc at Once 96

    1. Is DAO96 available to any DVD or Blu-ry discs, ie DVD+RW , DVD-RW or BD-RE etc, or ONLY available to CDs?

    2. And is DAO96 available to Iso/Udf data only CDs of any kind? Or only for CDs like cd-text audio, cd-g, cd-midi etc?

    Thanks for advise

Why do you want such an old program?
Odds are it won't even work with "modern" burners (from the past 15 years!)

  3. Thanks @lordsmurf but my question is not about any program, it's about disc at once 96 itself, need info on that, and my ASUS BW-12D1S-U which is not ancient support DAO96

  4. IMHO reply for your question was already provided here https://forum.imgburn.com/topic/27156-dao96/ - my impression is that CD use different data organization than DVD so seem DAO96 is exclusive for CD.

DAO96 refers to inclusion of the 96bits of subcode per sector, added to a traditional DAO burn. Subcode only exists on CDs (not exactly, but for all intents and purposes), and outside of the standard UserData area. DVDs & Blu-rays only allow recording of the UserData area.

Direct subcode access & DAO96 burn capability is only necessary if you are intending to burn CD Text, CD+G, CD-Midi. Other forms access subcode indirectly based on the form (CD-i, VCD, PhotoCD, etc) and don't need to be told explicitly by a DAO96 image.

Btw, ISO disc image format only supports the UserData area, so is not what you should use for a DAO96 intended burn. CUE+BIN is the most common DAO96-capable format.

That wikipedia article is at best woefully incomplete, and at worst is misinformed. For example, CD data mode1 and mode2xa tracks can also easily be burned in DAO or SAO Mode. The article leads one to believe they are only available in TAO mode, which is false.

    Ah gotcha.
I vaguely remember a program from decades ago by that name (maybe similar?)

Then nevermind, good luck to you.
