    Yes, Uncompressed with a lot of problems.

    I have to give Sony credit for making an uncompressed digital format back in 80's and the possibility to store it on a single cassette when the biggest hard drive was less than 2GB with a size of a microwave and several thousands of dollars the cost, I mean even by today's standard, capturing lossless to the exact same format is still considered a burden for direct playback and storage, Sony pulled it off in 1986.
