    I have an old DVD which has VOBSub subtitles. I want to convert the subtitles to srt format.
    What is the recommenced free software to extract the subtitles without too much work from my side?

    Use Subtitle Edit to OCR into a text based format such as SRT.

    "File" -> "Import/OCR subtitle from VOB/IFO (DVD)..."

    Thanks. I used it in the past but forgot about it. Works well as long as I deselect all options.
