    How do I install Mpv?

That aside, does mpv possess the same functions as VirtualDub2? Can it move frame by frame forward and backward with ease like in VirtualDub? Also, can one or both programs play multiple videos side by side at once?

    Here's the manual: https://mpv.io/manual/master
How come? Is it already on my PC? How do I activate it? And what about my other questions?

  4. rtfm - is a short for read the f***** manual, it is used when someone asks questions before reading first, a bit harsh but mostly to the point

Apps on windows you can download as an exe file, which cold be just a package where you run it and it installs things in your PC, creates icons on desktop. Could also download things that app needs before install. Or it just could be ready to launch exe with all it needs inside, could have many files, that were compiled and it just appears as one exe file, when running it, it unpacks behind scenes and does what it does.

Some apps like mpv player you can download in portable form. Meaning you download some zip, 7z and when you unzip it, it unpacks to a folder/directory. That directory you can place to any part of you PC. Then you look inside that directory and there is some exe file (or more), and by running just that particular exe, you run your app.

If someone gives you a link for an app, make sure you download it from videohelp site because when portable app is available for download it says so. So check that link for mpv from above , it gets you to mpv download page and you search for windows portable download.

If you want to know how app works, look also for link that says visit developer's site, and there you orient yourself and find manuals etc.

After reading manuals, you realize that mpv player can do thousand of things , what a user wants it to do. That is done by creating custom costom config file. That is a text file where you can edit it or add (or remove afterwards) lines of text. That config file has to have a specific name and be placed in a specific place in that portable directory. Sometimes in %AppData% directory (not the case for mpv player).

  6. Also you do not need to quote the whole post, if response is quick and clear what it is about, it just pollutes pages for no reason.
Just in case you are some AI, so it absorbs some manners.
