Here I am back again. yt-dlp not doing the chris hedges thing. and I couldn't update my yt-dlp either.
I'm just reporting this to the community for interest's sake.
I'll try third party things and whatever, I'm not giving up right away.
I already tried the m3u8 and it didn't work.
Here's what i just got:

I only added the english subtitle since the other 2 are broken. The french one is 99% english and the spanish one has a single line repeating for 30 minutes. Nice site.

Thank you. I just downloaded it and checked it. Seems to run well. Wish I knew how you did it but I'll happily settle for what I've got.

I agree: it is a nice site. If you know equally nice or better within the same realm please tell. As an uneducated, inexpert, novice viewer of global politics I find myself in an apparently barren landscape... odd little outstandings like Chris Hedges here very important...

I don't watch Chris Hedges because he's not a Truther.

This is an old account of mine (I rarely get on here), but if you want my site & channel, you can PM me. When I first woke up in 2015, I also didn't know where to look for the Truth. I lost a whole year of research & time is NOT on our side.

Read the first page of your post. Others have already explained how to do it and anyone can do it. Grab the right m3u8 link. Use yt-dlp or N_m3u8 and download using that m3u8 link you grabbed. A m3u8 is just a plaintext file that points to all individual fragments of a video.

Oh. Well thanks for that. I've tried that and it didn't work. It must be that I haven't taken the correct m3u8 file or I haven't take the complete URL or something.
That's all it is eh?
I actually did it just the other day with a file from a different source and it worked okay. I assumed that source wasn't using some 'trick' or other that hedges is using.
well okay then, thanks. i'll retry and retry if in future i get fails on a hedges download.
