VCD authoring problem, help, please...

I messed up about 10 CDs already.
I have got mpeg1 , (PAL25fps) files longing to be burned.
I have burnt few with Nero but cannot play them in my standalone DVD player. I have other VCDs working fine , but the last few i have made come up as an error in the DVD player display.
I have changed my ASPI to version 4.60 which is supposed to be the best.
I have removed Adaptec CD creator to avoid conflict with Nero drivers.
I can't think of anyhting else, so if there is someone who have the answer.

Does NERO give you an error message when you are adding files?
Do you use the VCD function in NERO?
At what speed to you burn? (some players cannot playback when the CDR is burned faster than 4x)

When i add the file , everything is fine, the mpeg is accepted.
I then burn. Nero latest version tells me burn succesful.
I thought about the speed .
I have read about burning under 4X else problems occur.
With my new LG writer 32X, i have tried the lowest at 8X.
But i don't think it is that because i have done some VCDs with it already and they came out fine.
Could it have anything to do with the fact, i used to have a scsi writer TEAC that i have removed recently.
