If I didn't record to DVD using S-Video input just like I did to ED Beta deck and view it through S-Video out of the DVD recorder, I will be comparing apples to oranges. Taking the digital HD file and converting it to MPEG-2 SD inside a computer has Absolutely nothing to do with the purpose of the comparison I did.

The time to talk about liking digital over analog has passed more than 2 decades ago, Analog as a recording format is as dead as a mommy, I see few people still use the record function of obsolete formats for either video or audio mainly for nostalgia purposes or curiosity fun. My main purpose of using such equipment is completely the opposite, Convert analog contents to digital permanently for viewing in modern display devices.
