  1. Hi, I've been having a problem with Subtitle Edit for a few days.
Suddenly the audio of any video no longer works in the software, even if the PC audio works perfectly.
I have not changed any settings either in the software or on the PC and I have not made any updates.
I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Subtitle Edit but the problem persists.
How can I solve the problem? Thank you very much for helping!

    Look in options/settings/video player
What does it have for video engine?

If it's directshow, verify it's working by opening and playing the video(s) in Graphedit.

If it's not working properly (ie. no sound) reinstall your dshow filters (eg. LAV filters)

Thanks for your help. In settings Mpv is default. I tried switching to DirectShow and to VLC media player, but the audio still doesn't work.
Excuse me, can you explain to me in simple words what I should do with Graphedit? I'm not familiar with computers. I installed GraphEdit 10 but it won't read video files.

No, the audio is active and all the software options are as before the breakdown. As I was saying, I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but the problem persists. I thought there was a sudden incompatibility with the PC audio but I understand little about PCs and I don't know how to intervene.

  7. Try to check your system health.
    Use Dism-GUI
    https://files.videohelp.com/u/292773/Dism-gui.zip

Use the correct version for your OS, 32bit x86 or 64bit -x64.

Start it, click SFC scan, wait until the scan is finished.

If errors are found, reboot and repeat the scan.

If no more errors are found, click (Online) Scan.
If no errors are found here, everything is ok.

If not, click (Online) Restore, at Restore source uncheck the box at
    limit access, then click online.
An attempt is now made to repair the component store.
If it is successful, you will be notified.
    Then reboot the computer.

Thanks but my PC blocks the SFC scan. It tells me: "Windows Resource Protection: Recovery Service could not be started."

  9. On start, you must allow access on the UAC request.

And how do I do this? Would you be so kind as to explain it to me step by step?

  11. If you start Dism-GUI, should pop up an UAC request window. Click yes on it.

I solved the problem almost by accident. In the audio settings of the pc the software's audio had been muted, even though the sound button was not in mute mode in the program.
    Thanks anyway!

  13. You should check your system anyway.
it is not normal that the error message
"Windows Resource Protection: Recovery Service could not be started." appears.
This means that you either have a defective file system or that the "TrustedInstaller (Windows Modules Installer) service" was/is unable to start.
Both must be fixed in any case.
