Hello,

I'm trying to capture video from an HDMI console using VirtualDub2, which I like to use for the ease of selecting various lossless codecs and cropping/resizing filters. I already use VirtualDub2 with my Magewell PCI capture card, but I wanted to use my USB device for those frequent moments where I'm not at home with access to my Desktop.

Hardware
Software
  • VirtualDub2_44282 - VirtualDub64.exe
  • USB Capture HDMI Gen 2 drivers installed: V3.0.4.30002
  • ffdshow_rev4533_20140929_clsid_x64
  • utvideo-23.1.0-win

I get a preview picture for my Magewell just fine. When I go to the Video > Compression window, however, I'm getting zero video codecs to choose from, despite plugins being present in my plugins64 folder.

The only option is "(No recompression: [125][235]6[228])" and the Driver name is "Uncompressed".

When I capture in this uncompressed method, I get an AVI that doesn't play back in VLC at all. The format is a bunch of nonsense. "}?6?" (No description for this codec).

Does anyone happen to understand what's going on here? Seems like the device isn't playing nice with any codecs, and VirtualDub2 is not detecting any in the compression window.
